Office?
You’re standing in it right now! Throughout this site I refer to “we” but in reality it’s just ME, John Hunt “mrKeroppi”. That’s a bit deceiving as well, however. Over the years I’ve made some pretty amazing friends that I call on to help with design critiques, ideas and code troubleshooting. So I’m never really alone and neither is your project.
mrKeroppi? Say what now?
Really good question and I’m not really sure to be truthful. I know where the name comes from. It’s a little green cartoon frog created by Sanrio®. I’m sure you know who Hello Kitty is, well he’s one of her friends I guess. Anyway, around 1995 is when I first started to use the name ‘Keroppi’ and I later added the ‘mr’ because I believe that I registered keroppi-at-gmail-dot-com late one night and was never able to remember the password. If I didn’t, then someone else did and I’m sorry for repeatedly trying to log into your account.
So really, mrKeroppi was born out of that mistake and rest is pretty uninteresting. I have no real association with the character other than I remember liking the way the name looked. Fast forward to today and it’s all over my work and it’s what you would google if you were looking for me. So there, I am MrKeroppi, but don’t worry The mrKeroppi thing is just an online deal. On the phone, and everywhere else, I’m just John or ‘my web guy.’
So, ‘mrKeroppi’ what is with that hair?
Nothing, why? Just kidding. If you found your way her via search or forum. The picture is me, but with an outrageous Halloween Afro on (not mine). Actually, I was a cow that year and the five years proceeding that. In the mid 90′s I did a truckload of bartending in the Miami area for Ruby Tuesdays, Mars Bar (went the way of the dinosaur) and Hard Rock Cafe. There really was no beating that costume for ease of movement and fun conversation starter. Sure, no creativity what-so-ever, but I was a bartender at the time and not the classy web developer / designer that I am today. So the hair, just 10 seconds and a camera. In real life I shave my head. Go figure.
Ok, I get it. So you can still build websites right?
Well my friend, glad you asked! Yes, yes I can build website, and I can make you a logo, promote your band, animate your cartoon character and do just about anything with the crayon box that is Adobe Creative Suite.
My degree is in 3D animation, but to get that degree I learned everything under the sun. I literally had sound engineering and human figure drawing in the same semester. Loved school, didn’t like the fact that I graduated into the new post 9/11 world, but that eventually evolved into what I am today, and I love my work.
In the late 90′s and early 00′s I worked in Miami club flyers scene and designed and maintained a website for a local live music promoter. After that, I went to work for a Key West company, Needham Fatica Advertising Agency (NF) around 2006. I still work with NF as their web division and I also have my own company that mainly services the North West Florida region, with clients from all over the world.
So what now?
Growing, learning and providing great sites and media for my clients.
